And here is the after.
Yummy, huh? I really LOVE the black. I've made several of these and have never painted one black before. I'm very happy with the result. I may just have to find a place in my house instead of giving this one away.
Here are a few more.

I tell you woman, you are incredible! Share some of that talent will ya?!? :)
I'm just biding my time until I manage to find a headboard/footboard set at a great price. LOVE these benches I keep seeing in blogland!

Beautiful!
I have a head and footboard. Do you have directions for this anywhere? I thought about making them into a storage bench, but since I've never even made a regular bench, I'd better start with the basics!
Heidi, the basic idea is to cut the footboard in half and use those as the sides. Use a 2x4 on the front and one on the back to be able to lay your seat on, which can be one piece of plywood or you can do planks (like the black one). I can't really give you measurements of anything because it will vary from headboard to headboard. I will post instructions as best I can when I make another one. I'm still on the hunt to find the perfect queen sized one for my front porch. :)
Thanks. I'll give it a try.
